Apollon scored a convincing victory against Ethnikos Achnas at the Tsirion on Monday evening, the first local game with new coach Ioan Andone on the bench. The Limassol side was keen to erase the bad memories of their heavy 5-0 defeat to Moenchengladbach in their Europa League tie last Thursday night, and did so in a convincing way. The 3-0 victory keeps Apollon in second place, four points away from leaders APOEL. Andone made several changes to the squad. And though Apollon were unable to find the net in the first half against a tough Ethnikos defence, they were able to score in the 66th minute with Papoulis. Ethnikos tried to mount a counter-attack, missing a great opportunity in the 75th with Melo. But four minutes later Stoyanovic was able to double the score for the home side, while Sangoy made it 3-0 in the 86th. The visitors were down to 10 players after the 80th minute when Adnata was sent off with a second yellow card.
