Chief Superintendent Karen Findlay, who is the Silver Commander this weekend for the Met response to the Covid-19 pandemic said :
“Ahead of the Bank Holiday weekend, I wanted to again ask Londoners to continue to comply with the current restrictions which have not been lifted.
“I know it’s a bank holiday weekend, and the weather is due to be good but I would ask that you continue to follow the restrictions, this is about keeping you safe.
“The restrictions remain to only go out for one of the four following reasons : exercise, to get essential shopping, for medical reasons or essential travel to work.
“Officers will be out on patrol this weekend ; they will continue to engage with the public, explaining the restrictions and encouraging people to follow the rules.
“Enforcement will always be a last resort where it is absolutely necessary.
“The vast majority of people are, and I thank them for their continued support and co-operation at this challenging time, in order to prevent the spread of the virus and extra burden on our NHS colleagues.”
