Mavrogiannis – Lidington Cyprus meeting ‘positive and constructive’

Greek Cypriot negotiator Andreas Mavroyiannis has had a “positive and constructive” meeting with British Foreign Office Minister for European Affairs David Lidington, in London.
Mavroyiannis had the opportunity to brief the British official on the course the Cyprus negotiations and discuss with him ways to move the process forward.
The meeting was held in a friendly atmosphere, according to diplomatic sources.
Earlier this week Lidington had received the Turkish Cypriot negotiator Kountret Ozersay.
Cyprus has been divided since 1974, when Turkish troops invaded and occupied its northern third. A new round of talks started in February this year with the aim to reunite the country under a federal roof.
