Members of the public who witnessed the attack took photographs of the boy as he rode off on the stolen moped. He was later seen to drive anti-socially in a nearby park.
The photographs were sent to the police and the boy was quickly identified by officers from Haringey Borough’s Robbery and Street Crime Unit, leading to his arrest.
Detective Constable Karl Latham, from Haringey Robbery and Street Crime Unit, said: “We would like to thank members of the public for acting quickly, being aware of their surroundings and providing police with their photos. The photos provided key evidence in the case and led to the identification of the boy; without their assistance we would not have been able to progress the investigation.”
