A cattery owner and a Finchley chicken shop have been ordered to pay penalties following separate licensing prosecutions brought by Barnet Council.
Linda Finch-Mason, of George Crescent, Muswell Hill, pleaded guilty at Willesden Magistrates’ Court on 17 September to running a cat-boarding business without a valid licence.
The court heard she continued boarding cats for payment despite knowing a licence was required.
She was fined £120 and ordered to pay a £48 victim surcharge and £1,200 in prosecution costs. The court also disqualified her from dealing with all animals for three years.
In a separate case on 24 September, Finchley Chicken Hub Ltd and its director, Toryalai Jabarkhel, pleaded guilty over an unlicensed advertising A-board.
Jabarkhel was ordered to pay £1,056 and the company £2,375.
The council said officers had spent more than two years attempting to secure compliance before prosecuting.
Council leader Barry Rawlings said enforcement would follow when businesses repeatedly ignored licensing advice.
