Cyprus’ men’s National football team in a friendly match with Bulgaria’s team tied the score with 2-2 on Friday evening.
According to the Cyprus Football Federation, the Cypriot team played “very good football for most of the match” and ,” our Men’s National Team finished in a draw away from home with Bulgaria with 2-2″.
“Our team was behind twice but managed to come through, missing chances for more goals,” it said in a press release.
The Cyprus national team coach, Apostolos Mantzios, said he was completely satisfied with the players’ performance.
According to the CFF, he noted they need to build on the mindset shown against Bulgaria and that Cypriot players have talent, which will benefit both the Cyprus National Team and their clubs.
Referring to the young players who participated, Mantzios stated they earned their opportunities on merit, and more young players will get chances in the future.
According to the CFF, the Cyprus National Team made seven substitutions due to the new regulations allowing an additional change in case of a forced head injury.
The Cyprus national team will hold two more training sessions in Plovdiv on Saturday and Sunday, and on Sunday afternoon, they will travel to Bucharest, where they will face Romania on Tuesday for the 4th matchday of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
