Cyprus Government optimistic about selling produce affected by the Russian embargo to Emirates

Minister of Agriculture, Natural Resources and the Environment Nicos Kouyialis has expressed optimism that the agricultural produce that was to be exported to Russia and has been affected by the embargo imposed on the EU by the Russian Federation will be sold elsewhere.

Kouyialis told CNA that by the end of next week traders from the Arab Emirates interested in purchasing the produce are expected to arrive in Cyprus, and that the aim was for this cooperation to extend beyond the Russian embargo.

The Minister did not rule out the possibility of exports to other countries as well.

He also noted that citrus fruits and almonds were mostly affected by the embargo, as opposed to vegetables, which were not exported in large quantities.

Furthermore, he said that there was time to find markets before the next crops of citrus fruits were ready.
