The government of Cyprus will proceed on Thursday with further lifting of restriction measures in the framework of the strategy for the gradual restart of the economy and social activity that were limited due to the COVID19 pandemic.
According to the Ministry of Health, night curfew is lifted as from June 10, as well as the use of Form A that was necessary for the movement of employees.
Lunch or dinner for social events (eg weddings, christenings, graduations, etc.) in restaurants or hotel units or other event halls is permitted, based on the health protocol for social events. Specifically, 250 people will be allowed indoors for lunch / dinner, or 350 people outdoors for lunch / dinner and 250 people for a reception / cocktail party outdoors. Those attending the events must hold a SafePass.
For social events, such as lunches/dinners for weddings or christenings in homes, a proof is needed (eg invitation) as well as the available square meters of the house, in order to determine the maximum number of attendees based on the relevant protocol. The information should be sent electronically to healthservices@mphs.moh.gov.cy for approval. A prerequisite for those attending the event is the presentation of a SafePass.
In addition, nightclubs, reception halls, entertainment centres and music and dance venues will reopen, based on the relevant protocol. For indoors it is necessary to present a SafePass.
The limit regarding the physical presence of employees in private service companies, as well as in the Departments or Services of the public and wider public sector, is abolished.
Meanwhile, the obligation to perform a weekly rapid test for 50% of employees who have not received at least the first dose of a licensed vaccine and 3 weeks have passed since the vaccination is still valid. For example, if a company employs 50 people and 28 of them have been vaccinated, the obligation for weekly testing concerns the other 22 people (11 + 11).
In addition, access of all persons to swimming pools is allowed, in accordance with the guidelines of the Ministry of Health.
According to the protocol for nightclubs guests must have a negative PCR or antigen rapid test done within 72 hours, or a vaccination certificate for COVID-19 with at least the first dose (provided that three weeks have passed since the date of vaccination), or evidence that a person had been infected with COVID-19 and no more than six months have passed since the date of their initial positive test.
It is recommended to reduce as much as possible cash transactions and instead promote the contactless transactions.
It is recalled that since the 1st of June, a maximum number of 20 persons, including permanent residents and minors, is allowed in households. In addition, people can go to indoor places, such as religious places of worship, casinos, conference venues and commercial fairs, exhibitions, theatres, amphitheatres and other performing arts venues. Their number is set at 50% of the capacity of each venue.
