Dozens of aftershocks follow Tuesday’s Limassol quake

Dozens of aftershocks have been recorded following Tuesday’s 4.3 magnitude earthquake in Limassol, the geological survey department said.

The department said in the 12 hours that followed the 7.29pm quake it had recorded 10 aftershocks measuring between two and three on the Richter scale, and dozens of smaller tremors.

The biggest aftershock measured 2.9 and was recorded four minutes later.

The epicentre of Tuesday’s earthquake was in the mountainous region of Limassol, 18km north west of the town, at a depth of 15km.

It was felt in Limassol and Larnaca.
