A fourth man has been charged following a police operation targeting a suspected organised crime group on Tuesday, 29 September.
The Metropolitan Police said Andreas Nicolas, 64, of Duxford, Cambridgeshire, was charged with possession of a firearm, namely a revolver, and possession of a weapon to discharge a noxious thing, namely electricity. Both charges are contrary to Section 5 of the Firearms Act 1968.
He was remanded in custody and was due to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, 1 October.
Nicolas was arrested in the early hours of 29 September during an operation in which officers executed warrants at 24 addresses and arrested 17 people. A further arrest was made later that day.
Police said he was bailed that evening but re-arrested on Wednesday, 30 September, after officers searching properties found weapons suspected of belonging to him.
Three other men had already been charged following the operation.
Charles Charalambous, 56, of Claremont Road, Cockfosters, was charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm to resist arrest, in connection with an incident in which a police officer was stabbed while executing a warrant.
Carl Robinson, 49, of Stanford Rivers, Essex, was charged with possession of offensive weapons in a private place, namely three knives.
Bradley Byford, 37, of Spellbrook Lane East, Bishop’s Stortford, was charged with possession of a weapon to discharge a noxious thing, namely electricity.
All three appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, 30 September. Charalambous was remanded in custody to appear at Southwark Crown Court on Thursday, 29 October. Byford was bailed to appear at the same court on that date.
Robinson’s case was adjourned for discussion of a legal matter. He was bailed and was due to appear again at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, 1 October.
In its update issued on 1 October, the Met said all four men also remained under investigation in connection with the wider operation and had been bailed in relation to those separate matters, alongside the other 14 people arrested.
