Greek-American community meets US VP Biden

A delegation of the Greek-American community in the United States discussed the Cyprus problem with US Vice President Joe Biden and his National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan, pointing out that Washington must exert his pressure to Ankara to show good will on the negotiations table.
CNA has learned that during the meeting Biden stressed once again his conviction that a solution to the Cyprus problem can be found and that energy can be the catalyst towards that end.

He also noted that Cyprus can be an energy hub in the Mideast and is also a new strategic partner for the US with whom there is cooperation in terrorist issues.

This is the second time such a meeting takes place in the White House in less than a month and it follows Biden`s recent visit to Cyprus.

Cyprus has been divided since 1974 when Turkey invaded and occupied its northern third. UN-backed talks are underway with the aim to reunite the island under a federal roof
