Greek School of Apostolos Andreas Birmingham triumphs at The Education Awards

On 4th July, the prestigious Education Awards were held at the National Motorcycle Museum, drawing educators and supporters from across the Midlands. This black-tie event celebrated excellence in education across ten categories, highlighting the remarkable achievements of schools and educators in the year 2024.
One of the standout moments of the evening was the recognition of the Greek School of Apostolos Andreas Birmingham, which was awarded the Education Award 2024 for Supplementary and Independent School of the Year. This accolade is particularly significant as it marks the first time a Greek school has received this honour.
The Greek School of Apostolos Andreas Birmingham was proudly represented by members of its staff, as well as members of the school and church committees. The award was collected by the Principal, Panayiota Magou-Serghi (member of the Cyprus Educational Mission), who was accompanied by Prof. Petro Nicolaides, Chairman of the School Committee.
Founded in the 1950s, the Greek School of Apostolos Andreas Birmingham has a rich history and serves as a cornerstone of the Greek community in the Midlands and throughout the United Kingdom. The school has received multiple awards in recent years through various competitions and distinctions, enhancing its reputation for excellence in education. This latest recognition is a historic milestone for both the school and the community, continuing its commitment to preserving and promoting the Greek language and culture in the UK.
The ceremony was a lovely event, filled with moments of pride and celebration for the attendees. The Greek School’s achievement is a testament to the hard work and dedication of its staff, students, and community. As the first Greek school to ever receive this award, it sets a precedent and hopefully inspires other supplementary and independent schools to strive for excellence.
The evening concluded with a sense of accomplishment and anticipation for future achievements, as the Greek School of Apostolos Andreas Birmingham continues to pave the way in supplementary education.
