Ryman League Division 1 North 8th March 2016 at Chadfields, Tilbury
Haringey Borough played Wroxham for the second time in 11 days and the visitors gained their revenge with a 3-1 win, which lifted them out of the bottom three and dented Haringey’s chance to put more distance between them and relegation. The game started slow but it was Wroxham who settled first and within twenty five minutes were two goals to the good. First a header and then a left sided shot which flew under the Boro’ keeper. Haringey should have been in the game a couple of minutes later, when a melee in the Wroxham box produced not one but two chances cleared off the line. This was the closest that Haringey came to scoring in the first half. Just before half time Wroxham settled the game, when they scored their third.
The second half started brightly for Haringey and they did have their chances to claw themselves back into the match, but dogged defending and wayward shooting meant that Wroxham’s keeper was rarely tested. Haringey did score twenty minutes into the half, after a scramble in the box was put away by Ross Dedman. After that the game petered out and the referee blew much to the relief to the handful of spectators watching.
Haringey’s next game is at home to Thurrock on Saturday 12th March hopefully at Coles Park. The weather might have a word about that though. This will be followed by a visit from Brightlingsea Regent on Tuesday 15th.
