Haringey coronavirus (Covid-19) updates

We all need to practice social distancing to protect our friends, families and loved ones. Social distancing gives us a proactive opportunity to save lives through the actions we take right now that we will not have in a few weeks. It is a public health imperative. It is also our responsibility as a community to act while we still have a choice and while our actions can have the greatest impact. See the government’s social distancing guidance here (external link).

Following yesterday’s (Wednesday 18 March) announcement regarding school closures, the government is expected to outline further details about this summer’s exams and the arrangements for key workers’ children and vulnerable young people later today (Thursday 19 March).

Meanwhile, Transport for London (TfL) has announced up to 40 London Underground stations will be partially shut across the capital to support key workers as they make essential journeys in response to the Coronavirus/COVID-19 outbreak.

Of the seven Tube stations in Haringey, two – Bounds Green and Manor House – were closed today (19 March).

On Friday and Saturday night there will be no all-night ‘Night Tube’ service or the all-night ‘Night Overground’ service that currently runs on the East London line. Available staff will be redeployed to ensure the resilience of the regular Tube and Overground services. Late services on the Tube and Overground will continue to run, with trains running late into the night on all days for essential travel only.

You can keep up to date with the latest station closures on the Tfl website (external link).

TfL has also set up a dedicated Coronavirus/COVID-19 webpage (external link). You can check out the TfL’s Facebook page (external link) and Twitter handle (external link) too.

In other local news, Bruce Castle Museum and Archives will be closed to the public until further notice from today (Thursday 19 March).

All planned classes, events and school visits have either been cancelled or postponed until later in the year.

NB: Staff shall be remote working and they will provide news and updates via mail-outs.

However, they may not be able to assist with complex enquiries at this point. For further information, please contact: museum.services@haringey.gov.uk
