The 16-year-old, who has Greek and American heritage, joined the Watford academy in later 2012 and was tipped as a huge prospect growing up in Australia.
The youngster had been on trials at several top European clubs including Barcelona, Manchester United and AC Milan.
It is understood that Armenakas has signed a professional deal with the fellow Pozzo-owned club Udinese.
The Hornets had only announced in April that the young forward had signed a scholarship with the club. However, the player replying to a message on Twitter congratulating him on the news, said “don’t believe everything you hear.”
Armenakas was brought to Watford at 15 years of age having been in the AC Milan academy in Sydney.
