Sunshine & KOPA Football

What a glorious day to enjoy live football today with KOPA league and LFA cup games for clubs.

In the league, Anorthosis Famagusta were firing on all cylinders scoring 8 goals v APOEL. APOEL scored 3, which in most games would be good enough for at least a point but not today. Anorthosis scorers were Andre 3, Danny , Daniel, Gio and Fabian 1 . APOEL scorers were Demeteris Frangeskides 2 and Harry Kleanthous.

Komi Kebir and Pantel put their unbeaten records on the line today and it was Komi who put in a winning performance scoring 5 v Pantel’s 1.

Pantel got off to a good start scoring first through a Max Papacosta goal Komi equalised through a George Lakey goal. The second half the gane completely changed to Komi Kebir favour with them taking the lead with a Ronaldo header then the other goals came from Ramiah, a second for Ronaldo and Ulijah.

Komi Kebir move into second place behind Anorthosis.

Akanthou welcomed a hard working Omonia Youth team as we record our first victory of the season at our new home ground ✌??

Akanthou grew from early possession in the first half creating chances and probing the very organised Omonia Youth back line, very reminiscent of the senior Omonia team. It wasn’t until 20 minutes when Akanthou took the lead from a corner finding the head of Inarhu Rodriguez Martin directing the ball goalward and the ball forced over the line by the defender. 1 – 0. Akanthou resumed from where they left off in possession and found their rewards on 40min when a foul just outside the box saw the one and only Inarhu Rodriguez Martin set up and blast it over the young goalkeeper. 2 – 0 HT. Second half saw Akanthou had most of the possession and chances they needed to take the game further but the determination from Omonia Youth gave Akanthou a full 90 minute and kept them at bay. FT 2 – 0. Akanthou will be pleased with the 3 points and Omonia Youth will definitely pick up points this season!
.KOPA legend and one of our most successful managers ever, Andy Fellahoue was watching the game. Akanthou are skippered by his grandson Alex Charalamous. Coincidentally, Omonia Youth’s captain was Alex’s cousin Antoni Kyprianou, son of KOPA’s current chairman.

The strength of KOPA saw all 3 teams competing in the LFA progress to next round of the LFA Sunday Challenge Cup. Panathanikos came through 4-3 on penalties against East Stars after ending the game at 2-2.Their goals scored by Zack Uribarri and Andy Evangellou

Olympia also went through with a 3-2 win over Takers FC. Olympia’s goals coming from Yemi, Jacob and Calum. Omonia put in an excellent performance to beat A C United 3-0 with goals from Antonio Michael, Andreas Kyprianou and a wonder strike from Harry Philippou.
