Kyriacos Phantis, 55 (17.09.58), was tried and convicted in absence of assisting an offender in connection with the murder of 20-year-old Mohammed Abdullahi.

He was sentenced to three years in his absence at the Old Bailey after he failed to appear in court.

An international arrest warrant has been issued as officers believe he is abroad, possibly in Cyprus.

The appeal follows the conviction of three men for the murder in March this year.

Dean Winston, 19 (24.10.93), of Torriano Avenue, NW5 and Calvin Jerelle Collins, 19 (18.05.94) of Bloomsbury Street, WC1, were both jailed for life with a minimum term of 24 years after being found guilty on 19 March of the murder of 20-year-old Mohamed Abdullahi in York Way, N7 on 29 June 2013.

Kyle Sober-Froud, 19 (28.05.94), of Bloomsbury Street, WC1 was jailed for life with a minimum of 23 and a half years after pleading guilty to Mr Abdullahi’s murder at an earlier hearing on 26 February.

The court heard that on Saturday, 29 June 2013 police were called just before 01:00hrs to reports of a disturbance on in York Way, N7.

When officers and the ambulance service attended they found Mr Abdullahi, who was from Kentish Town, suffering serious injuries. He was taken to the Royal London Hospital but was later pronounced dead.

A post-mortem examination later that day gave his cause of death as stab wounds.

The investigation found that Winston, Collins and Sober-Froud believed that Mr Abdullahi, or his associates, were responsible for shots fired at Winston’s house about three hours before the murder.

Nobody was injured in this shooting and there was no evidence found to confirm that the victim Mr Abdullahi was in fact linked to the shooting incident.

Winston and Sober-Froud were arrested on Sunday 30 June, and after warrants of further detention were obtained, they were charged as above on 3 July.

Collins was also arrested and charged as above on 3 July.

A fourth man was arrested and charged on 17 September 2013 with assisting an offender in relation to the murder of Mohamed Abdullahi.

Phantis, 56(17.09.58) of Carleton Road, N7 was on bail to appear at the Old Bailey for the trial in connection with this investigation. He failed to appear.

Police continue to investigate the shooting at Winston’s address in Torriano Cottages, Camden, NW5 and also appealing for information on a fourth suspect involved.
