A man who attacked two men with a knife, stabbing one of them, has been jailed for 14 years.
Rochan Robinson, 20 (14.10.95) of the Sutton Estate, N1 was sentenced to 14 years’ imprisonment at Wood Green Crown Court on Friday, 17 June after pleading guilty to grievous bodily harm with intent and possession of an offensive weapon.
The judge ordered that Robinson must serve a minimum of 10 years in prison and will be subject to an extended licence of four years on his release.
The court heard how Robinson had attacked his two victims following a confrontation in The Sandlings Estate, N22 on the evening of 26 September 2015.
One of the victims, a 26-year-old man, had been helping out at a family member’s birthday party at a community centre on the estate earlier in the evening. Throughout the course of the evening a group of males attempted to gain entry to the party but were refused by the victim.
At around 22:00hrs that night, the victim – along with a friend – went to look for the group. They found themselves in the estate surrounded by a large group. Robinson then appeared and lunged at both men with a knife; he stabbed the victim in the arm, and attempted to attack the second man before leaving the scene.
The victim was taken to hospital for treatment to his injury; his friend was not hurt.
Both victims were able to provide detailed descriptions of Robinson to officers, including the fact he was wearing a cast on his left arm.
Local enquiries quickly confirmed the suspect was Robinson and officers traced him to his address in Islington where he was arrested on 28 September 2015.
Officers also managed to use phone work to place Robinson at the scene at around the time of the attack.
Detective Constable Rachel Lloyd, of Haringey CID said: “Rochan Robinson is a dangerous and violent man who callously attacked two men with a knife, causing a significant injury to one of them.
“The sentence handed down to Robinson shows the seriousness with which the courts take these sorts of offences. If you choose to carry a knife on the streets of London you should be warned that the police will arrest you and you will face a significant period of time behind bars.”
