Mother and daughter living at Larnaca Airport

Two-German women, a mother and a daughter, have reportedly been living in the car park at Larnaca Airport for the past 15-months.

According to Phileftheros, the two-women have been living willingly outside in the elements, through both the cold winter and sweltering summer.

It’s believed they sleep in sleeping bags on the hard concrete floor.

Adamos Aspris, Hermes Airport spokesman, said: ‘the airport has offered to help the Germans on numerous occasions but they have refused any aid and seem somewhat unwilling to change their circumstances.”

Aspris claims that the Airport has offered assistance to the pair in helping them return to Germany.

In addition Larnaca police have approached the vulnerable women to offer them help but the pair is reported to have refused.

The German Embassy has also tried to assist their citizens by offering various ways in which they could help the mother and daughter.

The pair refuses any help and they do not give any reasons for why they are living in the airport car park.

Staff at Larnaca Airport claim the mother and daughter often enter the airport to use the toilets.

Aspris states that the women arrived in Cyprus from Israel on August 12, 2014. They were deported from Israel because their visas had expired. However instead of continuing on to Germany, they made Larnaca Airport car park their new home.

Larnaca Airport intends to request assistance from the Cypriot authorities as to how they should tackle the homelessness of the two Germans.

Under European law there is no law to expel EU citizens from a country if they have not committed a crime.
