Police have launched an arson investigation after a pub in Larnaca was torched during the early hours of Tuesday.
According to the report, fire services responded to an alert over a burning building on the Larnaca to Dhekelia road at around 4.45am.
Firemen evacuated residents in the flats above the pub on the Oroklini tourist strip.
The fire was quickly put out but not before the interior of the pub was destroyed. According to district fire Chief Michalis Theofilou there was evidence inside the building pointing to arson.
One of the side doors had been forced open and there were also traces of flammable liquid inside believed to have been used to start the fire.
An arrest warrant has been issued for a suspect seen near the crime scene before the fire started.
