The gold medal went to Australia`s Tom Burton with 73 points, Tonči Stipanović from Croatia secured the second place with 75 points and Sam Meech from New Zealand came third with 85 points.

According to the correspondent of the Cyprus Union of Sports Writers, Erodotos Miltiadous, after the race, in which he finished 6th, Kontides said he was disappointed for not being able to reach bronze. He recalled his 5th race, where he came 25th, noting that this placement kept him off the Olympic pedestal.

“I am not satisfied, this is not the result I wanted”, the London silver medalist said right after the race.

He added that he would now review his mistakes, together with his coach, in order to improve his performance.
