Energy companies have shown strong and growing interest in the third licensing round for offshore exploration in blocks 6, 8 and 10 of Cyprus` Exclusive Economic Zone, Government Spokesman Nikos Christodoulides said on Thursday.
He told the press that the Government will make specific announcements on the third licensing round only after the President and the Government are briefed on the results.
The round is scheduled to be concluded on Friday.
“There will be no announcements tomorrow with regard to the companies that have shown interest. First the President and Cabinet must be informed and then there will be very specific announcements” Christodoulides said.
He noted that there has been strong and growing interest for the blocks offered in the third round.
He added that the Government expects that this interest will take the form of specific bids.
“Indeed through some bids one can see this growing interest, but we will wait until tomorrow for the procedure to be concluded and then we will be more specific”.
