Thousands flock to see pop star Peter Andre in Nottingham

Each winning couple received a £500 gift card to spend at the centre, with more than 500 people applying to take part.

Lawrey Corr, 24, of Colwick, who won a competition with the Nottingham Post to meet Peter Andre, said she enjoyed the experience.

“I’ve been excited all week about the event,” she said.

“I’ve been a fan of Peter ever since I was a little kid and he released Mysterious Girl. I’ve got loads of his merchandise at home, with his calendar, pens and mug.

“I got to meet him with my friend Emma, who is also a fan, and we were a bit nervous beforehand but as soon as we went into the room he made us all feel really welcome.

“He signed my Peter Andre mask, perfume and my Greatest Hits album and I was really delighted.

”It was amazing to meet him – the best day of my life. He was such a nice guy and just like he is on TV.”

Vicki Hopkins, 26, of Mansfield, was one of the winning contestants on the game show, taking home her share of the £500 gift card.

She said: “I thought I was going to be all right with my nerves but as soon as Peter arrived my mouth went dry. We could hear the crowd backstage but we couldn’t see how many people were in the crowd until we went on stage and there were loads of people screaming.

“When we got up there, it was amazing and I loved every minute of it. I had my friend in the crowd and she definitely thought my answers were the best and I deserved to win.

“Peter was one of the nicest people I’ve ever met. He made plenty of time to speak to everyone and was down-to-earth.”

“He gave me a kiss on the cheek, so I was happy with that.”

Sarah Turnbull, Broadmarsh general manager, said: “It was amazing to see Lister Gate Square packed out with eager Peter Andre fans at the event on Saturday.

“There was a real buzz in the centre all day, with the first people starting to queue up from around 3am.

“The noise from the crowd was incredible and Peter certainly made an impact on contestants and shoppers alike.

“Some of our contestants were a little nervous before they went on stage but Peter made them feel at ease and it made for a great show.

“One of our lucky couples has even decided to go on an evening date after meeting on stage, so who knows, love could even have blossomed at Broadmarsh.”
