There is a relatively minor programme of planned closures on the Tube and Overground network this weekend – but they could still affect your journey. Read on for the lowdown.
On the Central line on Sunday only, Chancery Lane station will be closed for station improvement work. Circle line trains will not run between Gloucester Road and Aldgate, via Victoria, again for station improvement work at Victoria and other work at Embankment.
District line trains will not serve stations between South Kensington and Aldgate East for the same reasons.
On the London Overground network, there will be no service all weekend between Surrey Quays and Crystal Palace/West Croydon. On Sunday only, there will also be no service between the following stations: Clapham Junction and Kensington (Olympia); Gospel Oak and Barking; Willesden Junction and Camden Road via West Hampstead. There will be an alternative route provided between Willesden Junction and Stratford via Kensal Green, Queen’s Park, Kilburn High Road, South Hampstead, Camden Road, and all stations to Stratford on the Sunday.
The following docking stations in the Barclays Cycle Hire scheme are out of action this weekend: Kingsway; Clifton Street; Manresa Road (Sunday only, 7am to 7pm). For full details, see tfl.gov.uk/barclayscyclehire.
On the buses, an event in Regent Street in central London on Saturday means services will be diverted or stop short of their destination in the Oxford Circus, Regent Street, Piccadilly Circus and Green Park areas all day, from 3am until midnight.
Then, starting on Sunday night, roadworks will close Regent Street southbound between Oxford Circus and Piccadilly Circus, every night from 10pm until 6am, until October 4. Again, buses will be diverted or stop short of their normal destination.
A sports event in the City means routes will be affected by the closure of Southwark Park Road from 5pm on Saturday until 1am Sunday.
And in Ealing a sports event on Sunday from 7.30am to 1pm means roads in and around the area will be busier than normal and bus diversions may be in place.
Also in Ealing there will be overnight closures of the westbound lane of the Hanger Lane Underpass until mid-October due to maintenance work; from midnight Friday until 7am Saturday, from 1am to 8am on Sunday and from midnight Sunday to 6am Monday.
On the North Circular (A406) there are closures and lane restrictions westbound between Redbridge Roundabout and Waterworks Roundabout, from 10pm Friday until 8am Sunday.
And in Wembley on Sunday an event at the stadium means Harrow Road, Wembley High Road and surrounding roads will be busy from 2.30pm to 11pm. Lastly, Putney Bridge has reopened early and is now open to all traffic.
