Thirteen-year-old UK Cypriot Olivia Kalli has been invited to represent England in the Dance World Cup alongside the Streetz Ahead Dance Academy.
The Dance World Cup, often referred to as the “Olympics of Dance,”, begins on Friday 4th July in Burgos, Spain and will host 66 countries and 120,000 dancers, aged from 4 to 25, over the 12 day event. The opening ceremony and parade of nations offer the thrill of marching through the host city, proudly waving your country’s flag, and sharing moments of camaraderie with fellow team members.
Previous locations for Dance World Cup include Portugal, Spain, Germany, Romania, England, Austria, Italy, France and Jersey.
Each year, the Dance World Cup features a prestigious panel of international judges, renowned as leading experts in their dance disciplines. At last year’s World Finals, an outstanding panel of 37 judges, each a leading authority in their field, delivered expert adjudication across all dance genres.
Special awards, medals, trophies, and certificates are presented to the top-performing dancers at the finals. Being recognised as the top dancer in your country or finishing in the top 10 at the World Finals is a remarkable accolade.
The Streetz Ahead Dance Academy, based in Waltham Abbey, auditioned alongside approximately 70 other dance schools in England. Only 5 were selected to represent England so Olivia and the Streetz Ahead team have made the official dance England team – a massive achievement – performing in the Street Dance category. Well done to all dancers and their principal Michelle McFadyen. We wish you the best of luck in Spain!
