The Yianis Christodoulou Foundation (YCF) stands today as one of the most dynamic philanthropic organisations dedicated to supporting young people in Cyprus and beyond. Founded by renowned Cypriot entrepreneur and philanthropist John Christodoulou, YCF is deeply committed to creating opportunities for the next generation by investing in education, health, well-being, social inclusion, and cultural heritage.
John Christodoulou, a self-made entrepreneur and prominent figure in the UK property industry, remains strongly connected to his Cypriot roots. His passion for giving back has led to a foundation that has already completed over 75 impactful projects, transforming schools, healthcare facilities, playgrounds, and community centres, as well as delivering targeted support to disadvantaged or vulnerable children. In recognition of his lifelong dedication to philanthropy, John Christodoulou was most recently honoured with the Maria Callas Grand Prix Award (2025) under the high patronage of H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco – one of the most prestigious honours in the arts and charitable world, adding to the many more accolades and recognitions he has received.
Among YCF’s proudest milestones are landmark initiatives such as the nationwide student competition Love Cyprus (2023), which inspired creativity and pride among Cypriot youth in promoting Cyprus, by entrants submitting either an attractive photo reflecting Cyprus nature or culture, or a video of a traditional dance.
Moreover, the Guinness World Record (2024) for the largest chain of people clasping their wrists, brought together 4,021 participants to celebrate and send a message of unity and collective accomplishment. These initiatives not only strengthened community bonds and pride amongst the people of Cyprus, but also raised Cyprus’s profile internationally, highlighting the importance of cultural preservation alongside innovation and progress.
With these values in mind, YCF is honoured to support the participation of Antri Karantoni and the team from the renowned “Paradosiaki Vradhia” (Παραδοσιακή Βραδιά) at the upcoming Cypriot Wine Festival and Business Expo 2025 in London. This special event, organised by Parikiaki Newspaper and the CWF expo team, offers a beautiful opportunity to showcase Cypriot tradition, music, and dance to the diaspora and international audiences alike. For John Christodoulou, a devoted supporter of Cypriot culture, the chance to help bring Paradosiaki Vradhia to London is not just a sponsorship – it is a heartfelt investment in keeping the spirit, history, and artistry of Cyprus alive for future generations.
“The Paradosiaki Vradhia group is a vibrant example of the heritage we hold so dear,” John shares. “Supporting their presence at the London Wine Festival aligns perfectly with YCF’s mission of celebrating and preserving Cypriot identity, particularly in the diaspora. We want our young people to feel pride in their roots, to see their culture respected on major stages, and to understand that tradition and modern success can go hand in hand.”
As YCF continues its mission – from building educational futures to uplifting community spirit – supporting cultural showcases like this is a natural extension of its work. The Foundation looks forward to collaborating with the organisers and Parikiaki Newspaper to ensure this celebration is not only memorable but a true reflection of the vibrancy and resilience of Cypriot culture.
