Metropolitan Police officers working hard to keep London safe this bank holiday weekend

Extra officers will be on duty across London this weekend as part of the Met’s continued focus to tackle violent crime.

The officers will be drawn from across the Met and the dedicated Violent Crime Taskforce.

Deputy Assistant Commissioner Graham McNulty, who is leading the Met’s operation to tackle violent crime, said: “We have got extra officers on duty this weekend, carrying out a range of operations.

“This ranges from foot patrols and officers carrying out warrants and weapon sweeps to a dedicated central team monitoring fast-time intelligence. There will also be plain clothes officers using covert tactics.

“As people start looking forward to a sunny long weekend in London we want everyone to know that the Met is working hard to keep London safe.

“If you have any information or concerns about people in your local area or in your community then tell us. We want to keep working with Londoners to do all we can to tackle violence.

“If you are out and about in London this weekend – visiting, working or just enjoying the sun – we want people to have a great time.”
