The Harringay Green Lanes railway bridge will benefit from improvement work as part of the scheme.
The project will transform the area with extensive landscaping, traffic calming, changes to bus stops and new parking controls.
Cllr Nilgun Canver, cabinet member for the environment, said: “It’s very exciting to know that soon these whole works will be completed and we will finally see the transformation of Green Lanes that we have all been working towards.
“These changes are the culmination of a lot of hard work on the part of the Green Lanes Strategy Group, traders and the council, and I am so pleased that everything is now coming together.”
The first phase of work involves pavement improvements, narrowing junctions, de-cluttering streets, new drainage and planting preparation.
Later works will bring perch-style seating in some areas, special lighting for the landmark Salisbury pub, landscaping and tree planting, cycle and pedestrian-friendly improvements to junctions, shopfront “makeovers”, a new pedestrian crossing and improvements to the railway bridge.
Landscaping and tree planting in the pocket park between Allison Road and St Ann’s Road will also begin shortly, and the entire scheme should be completed by the end of March next year.
