A bumper summer of fun ahead in Barnet

There is an action packed summer of fun ahead with a programme of courses on offer for young people in Barnet.

Once again this summer the ‘Futureversity’ programme will include dozens of opportunities aimed at inspiring 8 to 19 year olds (up to 25 for people with learning difficulties and disabilities).

Every year more than 2,000 young people take part in Futureversity activities which is part of the Youth Service’s Positive Activities Programme.

This summer will see 50 exciting courses and activities on offer to young people who are living or being educated in the borough.

The activities are intended to give participants a chance to try something different, have fun, gain new skills and meet new people.

This year’s programme, which runs from 26 July to 18 August, includes courses such as mechanics, circus skills, music production, fishing, fashion and radio-controlled car workshops.

Councillor Reuben Thompstone, Chairman of the Children, Education, Libraries and Safeguarding Committee, said: “These summer activities are always hugely popular and are a brilliant way for young people to learn a completely new skill or sport while meeting new people and socialising over the summer break.

“Places on courses always fill up extremely quickly so I would encourage anyone who is interested to book up as soon as possible and get involved.”

A full list of courses and details of how to book can be found on the Futureversity website.
