A man has died after being hit by a train at Tottenham’s Northumberland Park station.
The man, who has not been named, was hit at about 4.45pm on Friday. He was hit by the 4.25pm service from Liverpool Street, bound for Stansted airport. The incident caused “major disruption” to rail services to Hertford East, Cambridge and Stansted Airport until around 10pm for Abellio Greater Anglia train services, which were diverted through Seven Sisters station.
A British Transport Police spokesman said: “Our officers were called to Northumberland Park station around 4.45pm on Friday, 8 August, after reports a person had been hit by a train. Colleagues from the Metropolitan Police Service and London Ambulance Service also attended.
”A man was pronounced dead at the scene. Once we have formally identified the man, we will inform his family. The man’s death is not being treated as suspicious and we will now assist in the compilation of a report for the coroner.”
