Carlton Anderson, 53, of Portland Road, South Norwood, was jailed for eleven years and six months on Wednesday, 1 November, at Croydon Crown Court.
He had previously pleaded guilty at the same court to causing grievous bodily harm with intent.
The victim, a 19-year-old woman, was a tenant at an address in Portland Road where she shared communal facilities with Anderson who also lived there.
On 30 March, they were both in the kitchen when Anderson threatened the victim and poured scolding water boiling on the stove over her before hitting her over the head with a saucepan.
She sustained serious burns to her arms, shoulders, face and head.
The victim called police, and Anderson was arrested at the scene.
DC Jennifer Williams, who led the investigation, said:”This was a horrific attack on the victim, who is still going through a long process of emotional and physical recovery.
“I commend the victim for her strength and bravery in calling police and supporting the prosecution to court after such a traumatic incident.
“Anderson is an extremely dangerous man and I am pleased that he has received a substantial prison sentence.”
