House Speaker Yiannakis Omirou has stressed the need for Cypriot viticulture to be safeguarded.
In statements during a visit at a winery in the Stroumpi – Polemi region in Paphos district , Omirou who was also accompanied by Paphos MPs, said that a smaller production would have a negative impact for the economy.
It is necessary for the relevant ministries to prepare a new national viticulture programme, so that production can reach the levels it once had, he said.
Cypriot wines are excellent, he noted, calling on consumers to prefer them.
