Afxentis Zemenides a man who cares about Cyprus

We all want to be proud of our country, Cyprus. Our country of origin. And may be the country that we, or our children, might decide to be spending more time there. Indeed, the last several years we experienced one struggle after the other. Not forgetting our national struggle and the occupied areas, we had since then a series of financial crises with numerous scandals as well. The list is long.

We need hope and we need to have visibility for a better Cyprus. We need a new generation to take the lead breaking from our sinful past but at the same time celebrating our proud history. At the forthcoming elections this Sunday, it is our opportunity to take charge and elect people who have a credible history and with solid technical skills acquired through a fruitful career in the industry. People who will be the architects of the new Cyprus.

I am running for an MP position for Limassol with AKEL and I am committed to work diligently with vision and passion, like I have been doing in my work, towards improving the quality of life for our fellow Limassolians. And of course, our doors in Limassol are always open to our Cypriot community leaving overseas!

My background as an accountant at KPMG as then as senior officer at the Limassol Cooperative Society offer me the platform to take a leading role in reigniting the economy of Limassol, increase the positions of work, reduce unemployment and attract more business both locally and internationally to establish offices in Limassol. We need to respect all the people who are working hard day in, day out. We need to focus on the future generation with education both in schools as well as outside formal educational channels. Education should be seen more widely in order to create the future-proof citizens of the future. Health is an area we need to address as well. We need effective healthcare accessible to all. We also need to respect the environment. In general the ESG themes (Environmental, Social, Governance) we see internationally should be put on the Cyprus agenda as well.

We need a new social and economic model for Cyprus.

We have a long uphill journey and I am committed to passionately and diligently work in building the new Cyprus.
