Cyprus` international airports at Larnaka and Pafos are expected to serve a total of 2,900 flights between 11-24 August with 470,000 passengers traveling to and from the Mediterranean island.
Communications Director of Hermes Airports Adamos Aspris said Thursday that this is the most active period of the Cypriot airports while passenger traffic will reach its peak between 11-24 August.
He added that during that period the two international airports in Cyprus will serve a total of 2,900 flights and nearly half a million passengers.
At Larnaca International Airport, there will be over 2,230 flights to and from Cyprus and more than 340,000 passengers. At Paphos International Airport there will be around 670 flights with a total of 130,000 passengers.
According to Aspris, data from Hermes Airports show that Greece is once again, the favorite destination among Cypriots. Kavala, Mykonos, Santorini, Skiathos, Chania, Preveza, Lefkada and Rhodes get the lion`s share in terms of outbound tourism. Barcelona has also emerged this year as a popular destination.
“Although there is still considerable room for improvement, the results so far are considered satisfactory”, said Aspris.
Passenger traffic from the beginning of the year recorded an increase of 5%.
