Police are appealing for witnesses and information after a vehicle was severely damaged when an item was dropped from a bridge on the M1.
At around 8.30am on Wednesday, December 2 a grey Audi A3 estate was being driven on the southbound carriageway when an unknown item was dropped from the Sandy Lane bridge in Watford.
The object smashed the sunroof of the vehicle and rolled off the back into the carriageway, causing further damage to the car as it did so. It’s estimated the damage will cost at least £2,500 to fix.
The investigating officer Natalie Quin said: “Thankfully no-one was injured but this was a shocking incident that could have had potentially fatal consequences for the driver. We take incidents of this nature extremely seriously and anyone found responsible for this crime will be dealt with robustly.
“I would urge anyone with any information about what happened to contact me. If you saw someone on the bridge around the time of the incident, please call me.”
Anyone with any information is asked to contact Hertfordshire Constabulary via 101, quoting crime reference C1/15/5630.
