Officers are appealing for information and witnesses after a man was bitten by a dog in Broxbourne.
The incident happened between 7.25pm and 7.40pm on Monday (26 September). The victim was walking his dog on a green area between Hollyfields and Broomfield when a bulldog type breed ran towards them.
It attacked the victim’s dog and as he intervened, he was also bitten by the animal.
The dog was not on a lead and caused injuries to both the victim and his pet.
PC Nikki Daniels, who is investigating, said: “This incident left the victim requiring hospital treatment and subsequently losing the tip of his little finger.
“As part of our ongoing investigation we have arrested a 38-year-old man from Broxbourne on suspicion of having a dog dangerously out of control. He has been released under investigation while enquiries continue, and the dog was seized.
