Appeal following robbery and attempted burglary in Hampstead street

Detectives in Camden continue to appeal for information following a robbery in Hampstead. Officers are also examining this incident to establish if it is linked to an attempted burglary which occurred in the same road two days later.

In the first incident police were called at 03:25hrs on Sunday, 5 July to an address on Redington Road in Hampstead, following reports of a robbery.

A 24-year old woman was approached by two men wearing balaclavas after parking her vehicle on a drive at the location.

One of the men pointed an object which the victim believed to be a firearm. The woman screamed and the other man snatched her rucksack.

Both suspects ran off towards West Heath Road.

The victim was not injured, but was left very distressed.

Suspect one was described as 6ft 5ins and of very slim build. Suspect two was described as 5ft 9ins and also of very slim build.

In the second incident on Tuesday, 7 July at 03:38hrs, the occupants of a property on Redington Road were woken by the sound of glass smashing.

Police were called and the call was graded for immediate response. Officers arrived at the location at 03:50hrs.

The glass living room window at the front of the property had been smashed. The suspects did not enter the property and nothing was stolen.

Detective Constable Adele Joyner of Camden CID, said: “These were terrifying experiences for both the woman who was robbed and the occupants of the property who were woken by the sound of their window being smashed.

“An investigation is underway to identify and arrest those responsible. I would urge anyone who saw any suspicious activity or heard anything, who hasn’t yet spoken to the police to contact us as soon as possible.”

Anyone with information should contact police on 101 or to remain anonymous call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
