Police are appealing for information and are warning people of the dangers of arson following two fires which seriously damaged fields in Potters bar on Monday ( August 1st).
The fires were started shortly after 2pm in fields to the east of Park Avenue Potters Bar.
The fire spread extremely quickly and has caused thousands of pounds worth of damage.
PC Paul Francis from the Potters Bar Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “We are taking these incidents extremely seriously. Thousands of pounds worth of damage has been done to these fields as a result of this.
“Setting fire to a field is extremely dangerous – those involved in this could find themselves trapped by the fire and they are also not only endangering their lives, but the lives of others including farmers and people who may be working in fields nearby.
“I would urge anyone with information on these incidents, or who sees anyone acting suspiciously near fields, to call police immediately on 101.”
