A total of 215 applications competing to receive the annual Stelios Bi-Communal Awards for 2016 have been submitted, double the number from the previous year, a Stelios Philanthropic Foundation press release says.
The deadline expired at midnight on July 16 and applications of bi-communal groups formed are mostly related to the fields of business, arts, sports, science; contributions were also made by non-profit organizations and partners in life, it adds.
The Awards Ceremony will be held in October 2016 in Nicosia and Stelios Haji-Ioannou will offer for the first time €500,000, rewarding a total of 50 teams that can win €10,000 each.
A total amount of €2 million has been awarded since 2009, the press release concludes.
