The British Bases in Cyprus conducted early on Thursday a controlled explosion of the two Birmstone missiles that were detached on Wednesday from a Tornado GR4 during its landing at the Akrotiri military airport.
SBA spokesperson Kristian Gray told CNA that the destruction of the missiles took place at 1.30 in the morning local time (22.30 GMT), following the arrival of experts from the UK, who continue their investigations on the reasons of the accident.
