Homes for Haringey’s 22,500 residents have from now until 22nd July to put themselves forward to stand for election to the Homes for Haringey Board.
This chance comes only once every three years and residents who are interested in having more of a say about housing in Haringey and feel that they can make a positive contribution to housing services are encouraged to put themselves forward.
The purpose of the election is to find three tenants and one leaseholder to sit as Resident Board Members alongside Haringey Councillors and independent board members including the Chair, Keith Jenkins. The successful candidates will help to hold Homes for Haringey’s services to account and determine the direction for housing services for more than 22,500 residents.
Anyone interested in knowing more about what is involved is invited to come along to free training sessions on 4th and 13th July and also on the 8th August 2016.
Successful nominees will then be voted for by their fellow residents in August and September through a dedicated website or by contacting either Mi-Voice number below.
Phil Goodwin who stands down this year, after serving for nine years – the maximum three terms – said: “It has been incredibly rewarding and I would encourage people to give this a go – your views are really listened to and you can make a real difference. The Board was very supportive of my skills-gap and provided relevant, free of charge training to get me up to speed.”
Andrew Billany, Managing Director of Homes for Haringey said: “As residents, you know what we need to do to improve our service and you can bring that vital perspective into the boardroom. I would like to thank Phil for his invaluable contribution over nearly a decade during which he has really helped us to make things better for residents across the borough.”
The four successful candidates will be announced in September and will take their place on the Homes for Haringey Board of Directors in October. Homes for Haringey, which recently won a ten year contract to provide housing services on behalf of the council to its 22,500 residents, believes that the insight and invaluable input from resident involvement is pivotal to the successful delivery of services.
