Cypriot Deputy Attorney-General Erotocritou suspended from office

The Supreme Court has decided to suspend from office Deputy Attorney General, Rikkos Erotokritou citing inappropriate behaviour.

The announcement was made by the Chairman of the Supreme Court Council Myron Nikolatos.

The request to suspend Erotocritou was submitted by Attorney-General Costas Clerides.

The decision, which was read out in Erotocritou`s presence, said the Supreme Court Council deemed that the inappropriate behaviour was so serious that it warrants suspending Erotocritou from the position of Deputy Attorney General.

This is the first case of suspending a Deputy Attorney-General for inappropriate behaviour and is considered a landmark decision in the country`s Law Services.
