CGS Challenge Shield – Knebworth Golf Club
Sponsor: Nicholas Christofi – Karis Capital
The third event of the CGS calendar took place recently at Knebworth Golf Club in Hertfordshire and was generously sponsored by Nicholas Christofi of Karis Capital.
The course was beautifully presented, with immaculate fairways and greens, while the weather once again provided perfect golfing conditions under clear blue skies.
An excellent turnout of 60 golfers gathered at 10:30am to enjoy bacon rolls and coffee before play. Captain Dino Capsalis welcomed everyone, thanked the sponsor for his generous support, and delivered a short briefing covering the order of the day, local rules, pace of play, and other housekeeping matters ahead of the 12:00pm tee-off.
Knebworth is a demanding course where accuracy is essential, and the standout performer of the day was Andy Lanitis, who produced an outstanding 38 points off a 6 handicap to claim the CGS Challenge Shield. Andy, a long-standing member of the society who recently rejoined after several years away, has an impressive record of success, having won numerous major competitions and golf holidays over the years. Finishing in second place was Captain Dino Capsaliswith an excellent 36 points, while Alex Adams secured third place with 34 points.
Following the golf, members enjoyed a delicious roll-up BBQ before gathering for the prize presentation and fundraising in support of the Captain’s Charity, North London Hospice. Through fines, donations, and the sweep, an excellent £580was raised on the day, bringing the total raised so far this year to £5,355.00. A huge thank you to everyone who contributed to this fantastic achievement.
