Cypriot organizations secure 63,9 million euro from EU funds according to RPF

Cypriot organizations have secured up to 63,9 million euro in financing from European funds through their involvement with the 7th Framework Programme of the European Union for Research and Technological Development from (2007- 2013), according to an announcement issued by the Research Promotion Foundation (RPF).

RPR Director General Vassilios Tsakalos said that Cyprus’ performance was considered very satisfactory given that for the past five years a total of 289 contracts have been signed for carrying out research projects, which have been selected through a highly competitive process.

According to Tsakalos, these results prove Cypriot researchers’ ability to compete their European colleagues on a very advanced research level.

He also notes that this success creates positive perspectives to further develop research and innovation in Cyprus, as it broadens experience, upgrades the abilities of Cypriot human resources, strengthens international networking and contributes to the application of modern European infrastructures.
