Cypriot referees end boycott

The Cyprus Referees Association announced that they have ended their protest on Monday night following the bomb attack at the family home of referee Thomas Mouskos last week.

An announcement by the association said the protest had been called off because they were pleased with the way that the police investigations were going.

“The association was informed about the ongoing police investigation into the attack against one of our members,” read an announcement by the referees. “The association praises the efforts of the police and hopes the investigators will continue with the same zeal so that those culprits can be brought to justice.”

“In light of the developments, the association decided to cease the measures and return to refereeing games of the Cyprus Football Association.”

The Cyprus Football Association (CFA) had been forced to postpone all matches under its jurisdiction for one week after the referees came out on strike following the bomb attack.

On January 19, the Cyprus Referees Association decided on a week-long strike in response to a midnight bomb attack at the home of Mouskos’ mother.
