In its first year of operation Cyprus first supercomputer, Cy-Tera, operating at the Cyprus Institute, has handled work that would have taken a conventional computer 456 years.
According to the announcement by the Cyprus Institute, the supercomputer is available to the academic community of the Eastern Mediterranean and has accessible to all scientists in Cyprus from May 2012.
The processing power is 30 Tflops, meaning that it has the ability to perform 30 trillion mathematical operations per second.
