Police arrested a lawyer in Nicosia on suspicion of passing three mobile phones to a prisoner who he was representing.
Mobile phones are banned in prisons.
The prisoner is serving an eight year sentence for armed robbery in Nicosia prison and was in court for drugs possession and his lawyer was seen giving the prisoner an envelope containing the phones.
The lawyer has been detained and under police investigation.
