Cyprus Negotiators discuss measures and methodology

Confidence building measures, methodology and the way forward in the negotiations for a solution of the Cyprus problem were discussed during a meeting of the negotiators of the two sides in Cyprus on Friday.
In a statement, Spokesperson of the Good Offices Mission in Cyprus Michel Bonnardeaux says that ‘Greek Cypriot negotiator Andreas Mavroyiannis and Turkish Cypriot negotiator Kudret Özersay met today for eight hours in the United Nations Protected Area’.
‘They discussed confidence building measures, methodology and the way forward in the negotiations’, he adds.
He notes that ‘the negotiators will inform their respective leaders of the outcome of their discussions in preparation for the leaders meeting on 24 July. The next meeting of the negotiators will take place on Wednesday, 23 July’.
Cyprus has been divided since 1974, when Turkey invaded and occupied its northern third.
