They engage in communication games while citizens feel insecurity
Unfortunately, the worrying rise in crime is culminating and citizens are justifiably concerned. The feeling of insecurity is pervasive throughout Cypriot society.
The Minister of Justice and Public Order is the only one who isn’t concerned. He spends his time engaging in communication games and issuing pompous announcements, but forgets that he has been in charge of the Ministry and the Police Force for almost six years.
They should acknowledge, even now, their failure to tackle crime. The Anastasiades government and the Police Force should focus on the essence which is restoring public order and security if the people’s feeling of security is to be restored. Hollywood-type police operations in front of staged television crews can’t hide their failure. Rather, they are provoking the public’s sentiments and insulting their common sense.
