Cyprus police are increasing their presence on the road network as well as in crowded public areas during the holiday season, a police spokesperson has told CNA, adding that the increased checks which started on Monday will continue up until January 6.
Replying to a CNA question on the matter the member of the police press office said that as traffic has increased these days due to the holidays, so has police presence on both the road network and crowded public areas with a view to keeping citizens safe and preventing criminal acts.
The police, she said, urge people to consume alcoholic beverages responsibly and to follow the Highway Code.
“These are days of celebration and joy, let us not mar them with unpleasant incidents,” she added.
